Building on earlier baselining and analysis work for the four Eastern Interconnetion ISOs (PJM, MISO, NY ISO, and ISO-NE), this project will include address the recommendations from the ISOs. Working with representatives from each of the ISOs in the Eastern Interconnection, researchers will conduct analysis of phasor measurement system collected data; with time synchronization, the data will be compiled across different ISO regions and used to conduct analysis of angle pair differences, power flows on specific paths and interfaces, the relationship of angle differences and power flows, and identification of high-stress conditions. The goal is to enable grid operators to use this information to supplement other information they currently receive on conditions in neighboring systems in order to improve wide-area situational awareness.
