Abstract | The goal to "keep the electricity on" is the responsibility of the U.S. Government, many organizations (such as TVA, Southern Company), and industry associations such as the North American Synchro Phasor Initiative (NASPI). Collectively, they have identified the need for improved situational awareness, rapid reconstruction of events, and the identification of atypical events and precursors to atypical events to enable proactive management of the U.S. electrical power grid. The basic goal of the PNNL R&D effort is to demonstrate the analysis capability to identify typical patterns, atypical events, precursors to significant events, and temporal patterns, both long-term and cyclic. Data-driven analyses resulting from this effort will be presented to domain experts to enable them to gain insights and facilitate management of the grid. |
